Meet Us

Please meet the current active volunteers who run the Club in their spare time. Many of them don’t just turn up on a Monday night but also help run the Exmouth Tigers Disability Football Club and provide support to the members outside of Club. This was particularly important during the 18 months of the Covid19 crisis when a number of members were at home alone and isolated.

CLUB OFFICE

Emma Baldwin

Club Leader / Chairman

Emma has been involved with the Club since 1993, starting as a helper before becoming Treasurer. Emma took over as Club Leader in 2002 and Gateway is a big part of her life as both her husband Paul and mum Gerry are involved with it. Aside from running the Club, Emma also manages the Ladies Football Team and is the Devon Ability Counts Ladies Welfare Officer. Emma also completes the majority of our funding applications, fundraises, promotes us on social media and provides 24/7 support to the members whilst working fulltime, and looking after her family (Paul and 2 cute cats). Emma was awarded the Pride of Devon Volunteer of the Year Award in 2018 and along with Paul were awarded Exmouth Citizens of the Year in 2015. Emma is very humbled by her awards, as for her seeing the members achieve, develop and grow as individuals is reward enough!

Paul Baldwin

Secretary and Exmouth Tigers FC Manager

Paul took over as Secretary in 2011 and in 2016 started the Exmouth Tigers FC which he currently manages. Paul is usually found taking the money and selling the snacks in the tuckshop. During lockdown Paul developed our hugely successful online tuckshop and also was awarded the Pride of Devon 2020 Volunteer of the Year award. Paul sorts out all the holidays, trips etc as well as working full time, playing golf, refereeing local football matches and supporting Emma.

Leonie Hartnell

Treasurer

Leonie started volunteering at Club after supporting her sister Elisa on a Gateway holiday back in 2013. Leonie has recently in July 2021 taken over as Treasurer and along with Paul and Emma is a Trustee. Leonie is always happy to take part in any activities and enjoys meeting up with some of the members outside of club for a walk with her dog Jax.

OTHER VOLUNTEERS

Carol Beach

Carol has volunteered at Gateway for many years and is always willing to do most activities particularly craft! Carol is a good listener and gives great honest advice.

Carolyn Letheren

Carolyn has volunteered at Gateway for a number of years now. Carolyn also helps Emma run the ladies football team. Carolyn is great at fundraising and even thrown herself out of a plane to raise money for Gateway! Carolyn like Emma encouraged her husband to come along and volunteer as well and he too has become hooked!

Gerry Bassett

Gerry is Emma’s mum and has volunteered at Club for a long time! Gerry was Club Secretary before Paul. Gerry chairs Exmouth in Bloom and likes to get some of the volunteers involved in gardening. Gerry enjoys doing puzzles and craft with the members.

Lacy Farndon

Lacy is Carol’s grand daughter and has volunteered at Club for a few years now. Lacy is full of energy, always first on the dance floor, out playing rounders or happy to take the members on scary theme park rides!

Linda Wilks

Linda has volunteered for many years, and is a great fundraiser for Gateway. Linda also often comes to watch the Tigers at their tournaments and also skydived for Gateway amongst other things over the years!

Kelsey Butler

Kelsey is our newest volunteers but is already a great hit with the members and happy to get stuck in to anything that needs doing. Kelsey is also one of Carol’s grand daughters and Lacy’s cousin.

Pam Salter

Pam like the others has volunteered at Gateway for a number of years. Pam is always up for adventure and amongst other things has happily taken the members on a banana boat in Majorca as well as being a brave skydiver! Pam also provides great support for the members both in and out of Club. Pam has been persuaded to get out of bed on Saturday mornings and has became a vital part of the coaching team for the Tigers with particular focus on working with the Ladies.

Steve Letheren

Steve is our newest longest serving volunteer and was introduced to Club by his wife Carolyn. Steve makes a great cup of tea and has a fabulous range of check shirts which he brings out on Gateway holidays. Steve helps Paul coach the Tigers (even though its really the wrong shaped ball for him) and is currently helping look after the Cubs.
